Description:
This is the successor to the very popular Audion Sterling, which has become,
a cult amplifier, especially in the far east. In the new model has the
driver tube 5687 been changed to the extremely steep 6922, resulting in a
more dynamic and detailed sound. A new special designed output transformer
is used, giving a deeper and tighter bass response.
Sterling MK2 has auto bias, meaning that there is no need for any
adjustments.
All the fuss with bias and balance trimming i.e has caused many customers to
go for transistors, despite the superior sound of even the most modest tube
amp!
Audion has this solved once and for all!
Sterling MK2 has an ALPs blue volume control and one pair of gold plated
inputs. Thanks to this any kind of line level source can be connected
directly without any need for a pre amplifier. Despite the low price of the
amplifier, the mains supply is filtered by a choke.
The sturdy speaker
connectors can take both spades and bananas ( even at the same time ). On
the back of the amplifier there is also an earth switch, which can be used
to lift the ground in case of ground related hum.
Audion Sterling can be
had as an integrated amplifier, with 3 line level inputs. The input switch
is suorced from Elma, the output tubes ( EL34 ) from Svetlana are matched
and Ero polypropylene caps and Beyschlag metal film resistors are used.

Description:
Audion was first in the west to have a series production of
amplifiers based on the 300B tube in modern times.
When the first Silver Night was released in the early nineties it received
many laughs in the established HiFi world.
Something with that small power had to be a commercial flop. But boy, was
they wrong! It turned out that this small amplifier was capable of driving
most speakers on the market and that in a way that left most standing mouth
agape!
Silver Night ST became a great success in countries as: France, Hong-Kong,
Taiwan, Japan, Singapore mm. In England the “ Stuff” magazine tested in july
-99 the Silver-night as clear number one in contest with: Audio Note Oto
(1300 pound), Tube Technology Unisis (2400 pound), Audion sterling (850
pound, Fourth!), Conrad Johnson PV10AL-MV 55 (1095&1995 pound), Papworth
MVH200 (1200 pound), Arion Nereus 300B (1199 pound), Audio Note M och P zero
(898 pound), Aria S2 (995 pound), Copland CTA 402 (1688 pound) and as last
in the test nr 11: Conrad Johnson CAV50 (2495 pound).
The magazine wrote: "This is everything a valve amp should be. Desirable in its
glowing gorgeousness, It sounds better than most amps at this price-and a good
many that cost lots more. It delivers just seven watts per channel-yet with our
speakers it went as loud as we could want. It´ll drive large rooms full of
people, and sound fabulous while it´s doing it. Everything´s in the detail here.
Timing is superb, so you get the sense that you´re right in the singer´s lap,
with the band´s instruments on either side. You don´t need to play music so
loud, as it remains dynamic and full even when you can whisper over the volume.
There´s plenty of bass, and it´s beautifully controlled and fast -not an ounce
of cellulite in sight. It looks fabulous, conveys all the contrast in your
music, and you can get remote control for an Extra 100 pounds. The Audion is one
gorgeous amp full of darks and lights-music portrayed with unerring accuracy.
Switch off the lights and you´ll find it mesmeric as it drags you into the
music".
The Silver-Night cost then 1375 pound.
Is it really possible to improve on such an amp in this price range?
Is it not to aim for the stars?
Well maybe, but it has been done! After lots of research and work the Audion
team managed the impossible. To make this happen, they had to create a new
heavier output transformer, a new driving stage based on a different tube and a
choke filtered mains supply. Furthermore the new amplifier is hardwired using
silver plated wire.
The Silver-Night SE has excellent gold plated speaker connectors and a earth
switch. Specially selected 300B tubes, ERO polypropylene caps and Beyschlag
metal film resistors are used.
The Silver Night Stereo mk II can also be had as an integrated amp, with #3line
level inputs using an Elma switch.

Description:
The predessor , The Silver Night PSE, hardly needs any more presentation. It
is considered by press and listeners alike to be one of the best ever made!
But the team behind Audion were not put to rest. They worked on a new even
better amplifier. Many considered it impossible, but they did it again!
The new creation was named
Audion Golden Dream.
Unfortunately the new amp turned out to be rather expensive and when the
availability of the parts needed got worse, the project was put to rest.
But the superiority of the Golden Dream left nobody at the Audion team at
peace. They started to work on a scaled down version to a lower price.
Out came the Silver Night mk
II mono blocks.
It does not fully reach the wonderful sound of the Golden Dream, but it is
close! It takes control and makes even hard to drive speakers bloom musically.
This is made possible thanks to a new type of single end connection, designed by
the Audion team. This new connection allows the quality sound of a single tube,
but with twice the power. Until now several parallel tubes has meant worsened
sound quality, but with Audions new connection that is no longer true.
The amplifier is hard wired, using high quality ERO film foil polupropylene caps
and Beyschlag metal film resistors. The mains supply is filtered by a choke. All
this pays off in extreme resolution and dynamics.
